Japanese culture is very different from western culture. Hence, Mr. Penny may learn some valuable lessons. It is also a very expensive place, so he'll need everything he earns. I've been to Japanese and Korean baseball games and they are quite interesting. I wish Mr. Penny all the best.

Brad Penny is washed up. I have seen him many times pitching in person sitting directly on the field right in front of him on third base side and has poor control. Basically he sucks. I have seen verlander pitch in person many times, including the no hitter back in 2007, and he just looks like a complete professional out there. Makes Brad Penny look like a rookie or amateur. You dont know what your going to get with Penny, might be a good game, my be a 5 spot in the first inning type of game. With Verlander, for example, its pretty much guruateed that the opposing score doesnt go much over 2-4 runs. I know he's a 4-5th type of guy in a rotation so he's no ace, obviously, but shipping him off to Japan is where he belongs, as far as away from the Detroit Tigers as possible, so with Penny trying to regain his form on the other side of the world

Brad Penny sucks. He's also a sore loser. I have heard him cussing and carrying on coming back to the dugout after a horrible inning (which happened alot), while there are little kids in the front seats on the rails down the row from me. A little league womens softball league could hit his predictable pitchs.

Penny should had known that he is an NL pitcher. He already flopped with the Red Sox but did okay with the Giants and Cards since. Signing with the Tigers last year was stupid. Now he has to go overseas to find a job which is a pity because there are a lot of worse pitchers than him in the NL. Baseball executives are obsessed with 3 things a. stats b. age and c. fastball velocity. The perception is that he is washed up without taken into account that maybe he is just not built for the AL. If I were an NL team, I would had picked Penny up a long time ago this offseason.

Name 3 5th starters that were better than Penny. 11 wins 180 innings thats a darn good 5th man.

Guy has a bit of a bad attitude and lacks movement and sink on his pitches. Maybe could've got a mill from a joke team like the o's or pirates.

Wish him well, but he really didn't do it last year in MOtown. And it is really a @#$% to cheer for millionaires that don't do the job they are paid for.

A good move on his part... go for a season, try to put up enough numbers to sign one more MLB contract, and if it doesn't work, retire with grace. Hope he pulls it off!
