Ramirez to return to Dodgers next season

  • Print

LOS ANGELES (AP)—Manny Ramirez(notes) is coming back to the Dodgers next season.

The team said Friday that the slugger exercised his $20 million contract option for 2010. His agent Scott Boras informed general manager Ned Colletti of the decision, which Ramirez had until this month to make.

He could have exercised an out clause in the two-year, $45 million deal he signed in March.

Ramirez hit .290 with 19 home runs and 63 RBIs in 104 regular season games. He missed 50 games while suspended for violating baseball’s drug policy.

In the NL division series against St. Louis, Ramirez batted .308 with no homers and two RBI. Against Philadelphia in the NL championship series, he hit .263 with one homer and two RBI.

Ramirez was traded to the Dodgers from Boston in July 2008.

Manny is still a great hitter no doubt but 20 million for bad defense and lazy work ethic, no thanks.

You forgot about him pushing Youklis into the dugout on National TV. How does this signing effect a guy like Eithier? I mean give the guy $20 million after he takes a shower while a playoff game is still going on and get's 50 days for testing positive.

    Are The Dodgers NUTS??????

All I can say is ...."Ha, ha, ha, ha ,ha ,ha,ha ,ha, ha,ha....." When Manny was in Boston he was like a god. "best righthanded hitter in Red Sox history"... 2 world series rings...$20 mil a year...no matter what crap he pulled , the fans still loved him. Then he shoved the 66 year old traveling secretary to the ground because he couldn't get him enough tickets to a road game. That was the day everyone realized what a piece of garbage he was (is). He quit on the the owners, the fans...and worst, his teammates who defended him over and over because he was "Manny being Manny" Even David Ortiz couldn't defend him any longer. When we had the parade in Boston after the world series, that idiot held a sign saying "Jeter's playing golf" or something like that. It was so embarressing. I hate the Yankees, but that buffoon would have to stand on Ortiz's shoulders to kiss Jeter's ass! Good luck Dodgers....HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

For those of you you thnk Manny is simply a country bumpkin with only a love for teh game, thnk again! He knows no one would touch him with a ten foot pole after his supension and his medicocre season last year. At $20M, how stupid can he be. Shame on the Dodgers for ever putting this offer on the table to him. You reap what you sew!

...and you know this fact because ????

Just a thought, but maybe Ned and the Dodger team still want to play baseball in October. Manny might be staying because it is warmer and dryer in LA than in most other parks that do not have roofs. His team mates are not criticizing him, and they want him back,

They have the best estrogen in LA I heard. Must be why he is staying in LA, that and a fan base that doesn't care what he does or how he plays.

    Yo Bowl Weevil...

I guess you bucket comment passes for manners in Boston. Yeah inside that bucket is your supper. On behalf of baseball fans that cheer for actual teams, BON APPETIT!! Keep the cutlery, we do not have any use for it now that you have used it for supper.

You might think about putting the bucket over your head so that the little green space men don't microwave your brain, Oh they did a while ago when you were walking outside the sewage treatment plant. Quick, tell the doctor tomorrow that your meds are not working anymore.

You should be on Boston ribbons with your buddy Ben. You are probably the life of the party there. They probably don't mind your breath either.

Try to get some sleep. Watch the picture on the box in the alley. Tell the doctor you need meds strong enough for a horse!

Take one of your pills. Your Boston roots are showing!

Yeah, I can appreciate your embarassment, but you should not deny your roots.

Have a good life, and send us all a postcard when you do your sewage treatment tour, but please no descriptions of flavors. It would be TMI, and some things are better kept to yourself.

Have fun and hoist a couple gallons to your BoSox.

Yes dumbass cortisone is a steroid, its part of corticosteroids which is used for inflammatory or joint problems. You're confusing this with anabolic steroids that increase cell synthesis and increase testosterone. I can’t believe you would try to pass that off. What a douche.

I can’t tell you a thing about Boston as I am not from there nor have I been there.

Back to 969, so sportscaster talk about steroids because the do not understand the games they are broadcasting???? They do it to get chicks? Are you retarded? Are what is "wuestions"?? What a fruitcup. You believe Manny can hit the ball a long way? Wow, is there anyone that wouldn’t say that Manny can hit the ball a long way? Idiot! Pierre cannot hit the ball as long as Manny or Either, but he can run faster. How old are you??? 13. Your English teacher would be pissed! The little commentary about Manny not being able to hit the inside fastball and how he got hit several times. Do you even understand a glimmer of Baseball strategy? The scumbag doesn’t hit the inside pitch so they come in on him, as a byproduct he's going to take a few off of the elbow.

Go back and read your posts, you sound like "the cat was hungry. The cat ate food because he was hungry. The cat stopped eating because he was no longer hungry. The cat will eat again when he is hungry."

One last thing before I go back to the Sunday night football game and see your mom hawking Campbell’s Chunky Soup, what’s the difference between Dodger fans and a buck of sh!t?

    The Bucket!

@ Yo WEEBLE WOBBLE 990 Evil Wannabee...

America's pharmaceutical industry catagories cortizone as a steroid.

Last crap left for Boston I guess, so you best head back east through the orient. They have lots of sewers for you to explore.

As to 969, I give you credit for admitting that you do not have a clue about sports either. The blogs and ribbons for Trolls are all in Boston --- see ya -- hey maybe you can get a job there as a taster at the sewage treatment plant.

A fitting occupation for someone who likes to call themselves PURE EVIL. You know what they say, you are what you eat. I would imagine that most of what gets flushed down the toilets in Boston is really evil. I apologize for making light of your dinner.

As to the rest, you are admittedly language challenged, so we won't bother trying to explain anything to you because it is not kind to ridicule the ignorant.

Have fun on your sewer tour! Sat hi to Terry and Theo when you get to Boston, but I don't think they will be coming to your place of work. Stew on it for a while!!!

Voice of Treason - I don’t even know how to respond to you inane comments. Cortisone is a PED? Than so is caffeine, benadryl, Tylenol, and anything else that a professional athlete may ingest that in anyway shape of form alters their ability to perform.

    Post 969: WTF???? I think you're retarded...

Post 972: Are you high??? Jesus, your rhetoric is incomprehensible.

Post 986: Did your parents not pay any attention to you? If that whole entry is not a psychological call for help than I don’t know what is...

Post 987: Cute. Piggy backing off of some other moron’s feeble attempt at a joke. Almost worked. I bet it sounded really cool in your head as you pounded it out on a keyboard at the library.

Bottom line: Drugs are bad. Manny has manboobs. You will get out one day on good behavior and use the skills you learned to be a really successful gay porn star. I wish you the best and a bounty of penicillin.

Manny, tighten up your outfield play, and stop taking plays, or innings off, as you did in Boston, and have done it with the Dodgers.

Manny bothers you that much. Call Ned cause you must have his number on speed dial. Tell him to trade Manny to the CUBS because you are sick and tired of the Dodgers being in post-season play. The CUBS have been without a World Series win for a long time. The Dodgers were in third place before Manny came, and they can go back there after he is gone.

The CUBS would love to get a shot at a World Series...

On the other hand, Ned figures it is better to let Manny be Manny. That means that the team is going to win and be in the post-season because Manny plays ball in October every year. He did not do that bad after his 50 game suspension. He hit home runs, he scored runs, and he drove in runs. From the second week in September on, he was in pain and he still hit. Fifty games off screwed up his timing and his swing a bit, but he was coming out of it when he got hurt.

Manny just has to be Manny because the biggest difference with the Dodgers since Manny came is that they believe in each other and play as a team. It is what he did in Cleveland and in Boston. The BoSox talent level was close to the Yankees on paper, but they did not play as a team.

Proof that the Dodgers played as a team is in their record. They led wire to wire. They had the best record in the NL. Yes they slipped a bit after Manny was hurt, but they pulled together as a team. Maybe because of that. They did not point fingers at other members of the team. They kept saying that "I have to improve here" "I have to get the job done".

You know when the BoSox were winning; they did that too. This year they have been pointing fingers at their teammates. In 07 because Francona and Epstein were dumping on Manny, they started pointing fingers at Manny, but he weathered that and the BoSox won that year. I hope they enjoy it because it will be 2111 before they have to worry about it.

Most Dodger fans want a World Series win a lot sooner than that ~~ maybe you don't ~~ then again ~~ maybe you are a BoSox fan doing what Boston has a history of doing to people they have driven out of town -- trying to poison water.

Ned apparently likes the post-season, and even he noticed that the players stand up for each other this past season. Maybe that is why he is running the club and you are not. Your great grandchildren
can cheer for your BoSox because it will probably be that long before they have to worry about it.

I'm afraid you bring nothing to the Dodgers, unless you can pick up your game a hell of a lot. You did absolutely nothing after your suspensension, so maybe the Dodgers think the fans are too stupid to figure this out. The great Manny, who isn't worth a sh*&t otherwise, has hair that looks like crap for an old man, and can't catch a fly ball for love nor money. You're pathetic, overall.
