Astros add trio to active roster

HOUSTON (AP)—The Houston Astros purchased the contracts of infielder Chris Johnson and right-handed pitcher Billy Sadler(notes) and recalled infielder Tommy Manzella from Triple-A Round Rock on Monday.

Johnson, 24, hit .281 with 13 home runs and 42 RBIs for Round Rock.

Sadler, 27, went 5-3 with a 5.12 ERA in 16 starts for Round Rock and Triple-A Fresno. The Astros signed him to a minor-league contract after he was released by San Francisco on Aug. 5.

Manzella, 26, hit .289 with nine home runs and 56 RBIs in 133 games at Triple-A.

    The last few weeks have shown how important Berkman is to the Stros.

    Didn't they have the division lead when he went down?!
