Blue Jays RHP Halladay named AL Pitcher of the Month

NEW YORK (TICKER) Toronto Blue Jays righthander Roy Halladay on Wednesday was named American League Pitcher of the Month for April.

In six starts last month, Halladay posted a 4-0 record and a 2.28 ERA in 47 1/3 innings. The 30-year-old tossed two complete games in April, including a 10-inning performance April 13 in a 2-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers.

The four-time All-Star and 2003 Cy Young Award Winner has not allowed more than three runs in any start this season.

Boston Red Sox righthander Josh Beckett finished second in the voting after going 5-0 with a 2.48 ERA. Tampa Bay reliever Al Reyes, who had nine saves and a 1.50 ERA, also received consideration.
