You know what? Bartolo Colon doesn't look THAT bad

Bartolo Colon surfaced at Red Sox camp today and, truth be told, I was expecting a worse look from the portly pitcher. Extra Bases and Boston Dirt Dogs both say he needs to drop a few pounds (maybe 20?), but from this photo, I think it already looks like he's in better shape than he was with the Angels. 

Then again, it could just be his haircut. Never underestimate the weight-losing power of a new trim. 

By the way, Colon says he'll talk about his attempt at redemption on Wednesday.

    Haha -- what a ridiculous comment, but humorous, nonetheless. It's a great signing for Boston because the potential reward is far greater than the monetary risk that they've made. If he makes it, we could be looking at Beckett/Schilling/Matsuzaka/Colon in the starting rotation -- all proven number-ones at some point in their career...

    All of you will eat your words once Colon steps on the field in a Sox uniform. He is not Gagne. Bartolo Colon still has a few good years left. He can be the 4th or 5th starter for the Sox. Plus he has playoff experience. Think about it.........
