Big League Stew - MLB

Phillies fans reading this morning's editions of the Philadelphia Inquirer were given a momentary reprieve of believing Sunday night's meltdown was nothing but a bad nightmare. In reality, someone in the paper's pre-production department must have been even more confident than Jimmy Rollins to schedule this ad for the day after Game 4.

No word on if the papers will be shipped to Africa with the shirts they advertise.

A big BLS head nod to HHR and The 700 Level for the redirect.

Did anybody in the entire world saw in the Sunday's Yankee- Phillies game that the HOME plate Umpire missed to call the 3rd. strike on Johnny Damon after Johnny hit one on the right stand , one on the left stand and he swung and missed another one , yet the Umpire called strike 2 ??? How is that possible , how come nobody saw it ? THE MLB SHOULD INVESTIGATE . PHILLIES SHOULD FILE A COPMLAINT AND HAVE THE GAME CANCELLED OR GIVING THE VICTORY AND SUSPEND THE UMPIRES FOR LIFE ! IT'S NOT ONLY UNFAIR IT'S CRIMINAL TOO.

Gabriel, if I remember the play correctly (and I might not), I believe Damon got a piece of the ball, and Ruiz wasn't able to catch it.

    Jason M:
The Africa reference refers to the usual practice of donating the losing teams' championship gear; hats, T-shirts, to a charity that donates them to overseas missions. So there are some people in Africa or other less fortunate countries that think the Buffalo Bills had some good teams in the '90s

It's kind of humorous that Macy's, most famous for being a big NY store, ran this ad.

Gabriel: yes i did see that and it was ruled a foul tip. It might have appeared to be a swing and miss, but the umpire heard contact, so it was a foul ball

Gabriel...If you watched closely (which you apparently didn't), the ball was deflected by the bat and wound up below Ruiz's crotch, which is where the rest of your comment belongs.

think the ad wasnt updated to 2009, there not playing band wagon rays, this year there playing against a team that knows how to play real baseball this time, i have a feeling the yankees will lose tonight though, who knows what could happen?

You know when you look back at this post season, I don't think it's that the Yankees are blowing everyone away with phenomenal baseball---they haven't been that wonderful outside of a few players and outings for pitchers, but every team they played has picked this time of the year to have complete brain farts on the bases or in the dugout---between bad baseball, bad running and bad calls, this hasn't been the Post season to be proud of if you are involved in MLB in some professional capacity--just my opinion!

Fenton Farry and Gabriel. You guys take it in the KEISTER!
All is right in the universe! The Yankees spanked the Phillies again! I think Rollins, Victorino, Ibanez and Howard should take up checkers because they cannot hit at all! I thought these guys were suppoed to be good.
Oh, and John Kruk and Ozzie Guillen = 2-bit jealous losers.
Get over it! Yankees rule the baseball world again.

    Hey Gabriel
Should MLB also investigate the fact that Ryan Howard never touch home plate when he was credited with that run?? Quit [profane]in' . The Series isn't over yet The Yanks still need to win one more game but of course whiny Phillies Phans are like rats jumping off of a sinking ship.
The best thing though is that all of these Phillies "Superphans" were all Yankee fans when the Phillies were in the [profane]ter. I'm not a big Jimmy Rollins fan but he had hit right when he called Philly sports fans a bunch of frontrunners.
