Big League Stew - MLB

The other seven postseason bids are spoken and accounted for, but we could still be 48 hours away from having someone step up to reluctantly represent the AL Central.

Both the White Sox and Twins won their games today, keeping Minnesota ahead in the standings by a half-game and requiring Chicago to make up a home game against the Tigers at 1 on Monday afternoon.

Beat former South Sider "Sweaty" Freddy Garciawho's already texting and taunting fellow Venezuelan Ozzie Guillen — and the White Sox will force a one-game playoff with the Twins on Tuesday, also to be held in Chicago.

Lose and Minnesota is spared a stopover in the Windy City before heading to Tampa Bay.

While neither team has played like it deserves to be in the postseason — the Royals and Indians were actually the two hottest teams in the AL Central to end the year — this situation has the potential to be a memorable one. Then again, what Game No. 163 doesn't?

There's a possibility for a 163 game season for 2 teams now. When was the last time we had one of those? 1999? If Chicago wins tomorrow, which is most likely, you'll see just how evenly matched The Twins & Sox are record wise and what a playoff it will be between the 2. . So much for it aint over when it's supposed to be over!

1 game playoffs happen often, Edward...like, last year with the Rockies and the Padres.
Andrew, I would love to think that, but I don't know...too many unknown factors...

I think it would be AWESOME if ozzie goes into a total meltdown. Twins I should say (PIRINAS) will come out of this with the central divison title after everyone predicted them to finish in the basement after loosing santana !!!

The Tigers had begun mailing it in in May. They certainly haven't shown any appearance of heart in the final months of this season. If The White Sox lose to them it has to be considered one of the biggest choke jobs in recent memory. One of their hated rivals had done them the favor of sweeping a three game series from The Twins and providing them plenty of cushion in the process. Then, they went out and gagged it all away. Neither of these teams deserves a chance to play in the post season in my opinion. They got lucky because of all the injuries Cleveland suffered earlier in the year, is all. Otherwise, they wouldn't have even gotten a sniff at these playoffs. In fact, had The Indians kept CC and dumped Byrd earlier, they'd have probably won this division anyway.

Ozzie = retard with an inability to grow up. He is the worst manager in baseball. Any other manager would have had that team fighting to win the division each and every year since the World Series they won. Good managers get the most out of the players they have, he clearly isn't that kind of manager. Yes, he has a ring, but a blind squirrell will find a nut now & then also. Put Ron Gardenhire in the White Sox dugout over the past 4-5 years & they would have been a threat to win it all each year. Go Twins!

Absolutely pathetic. The Detroit Tigers should be drummed out of major league baseball. That is the worst excuse for a major league team that I have ever seen.
