Five quick links to start your day ...

1. Here's a good list of the "Top 10 Worst Deadline Deals of the Decade." The strange part is that if you're looking at it from a different angle, it could also be called the "Top 10 Best Deadline Deals of the Decade" because I'm pretty sure the D'backs didn't have any problem giving up Omar Daal, Nelson Figueroa, Travis Lee, and Vicente Padilla for Curt Schilling.

(By the way, that picture is supposedly of the moment that Curt called his wife to tell her they were moving out to the desert.) [Larry Brown Sports]

2. Further proof that the Chicago fan stereotypes can be flipped on their head: Three Chicago Cubs fans are accused of beating a White Sox fan so badly that he lost his right eye. Oh, and it happened at a Sesame Street-themed birthday party for a two-year-old. Real quality individuals we're talking about here. [Northwest Herald]

3. OK, I'll just go ahead and say it. I have no idea what Red Sox Nation's fascination is with Heidi Watney, their foul line reporter who is attractive but definitely not within a zip code of Erin Andrews' territory. There are other good-looking women in New England, no? [Red Sox Monster]

4. First Xavier Nady gets shipped out of the 'Burgh and now maybe Jason Bay? This Pirates fan says the Buccos have to keep some of their stars around to keep any interest in the team. I agree. [Bucs Locker]

5. Sal Fasano's Fu Manchu is alive and awesome in Cleveland. [Plain Dealer]

The fact that they were talking about sports teams makes zero difference. They could have been talking about PB&J versus ham and cheese. This is a story that has zero to do with sports and everything to do with three drunk thugs. Does anybody really think that these three idiots wouldn't have stirred the pot with another topic of conversation if they hadn't been sports fans? Perhaps Lynyrd Skynyrd vs. Neil Young?

white sox fans are a bunch of fair wheather fans and they will always take second to the cubs even if they accidentaly tripped and stumbled there way to a lucky world series. and your stadium is a real piece of !@#$% in its own right. i am sure some sox fans have ganged up on a cub fan,it just doesnt get reported or kenny williams and his ignorant manager will cry all week long again.

Anthony D - very nice. A man is disfigured, no matter the reason, and that's your response. Probably would have jumped into the fray yourself, huh? Classy. Really classy.

I agree with nel23. These were not REAL Cub fans. They were a trio of drunks. Of course, White Sox fans have been waiting for this so they can perpetuate the stereotype of the drunk Cubs fan.

Sounds like you're perpetuating a stereotype yourself there John.
I am a White Sox fan and didn't take this as the opportunity to verbally bash Cubs fans. I do have a problem with a guy who acts like the guy deserved it and uses it as a reason to bash Sox fans instead.
