1. No matter what team you root for or whether you think baseball players make too much money, I think you'd have to be a robot not to feel for Chris Carpenter at least a little bit this morning.
Carpenter, as you might have seen on Sunday night, left after 66 pitches against the Cubs in just his third start since putting all the hard work into returning from Tommy John surgery.
Right now the Cards are saying it's a mild strain of the right triceps — and let's hope it is — but it's hard not to assume the worst.
