Five quick links to start your day ...

1. No matter what team you root for or whether you think baseball players make too much money, I think you'd have to be a robot not to feel for Chris Carpenter at least a little bit this morning.

Carpenter, as you might have seen on Sunday night, left after 66 pitches against the Cubs in just his third start since putting all the hard work into returning from Tommy John surgery.

Right now the Cards are saying it's a mild strain of the right triceps — and let's hope it is — but it's hard not to assume the worst.

2. Jamie Moyer's trip around the bases on Sunday earned instant entry into my favorite highlights of '08 list. Run, Mr. Moyer, run! [The Fightins]

3. Reimagining the at-bat songs for stars of the '80s and '90s. [Joe Sports Fan]

4. The White Sox paid tribute to South Sider Bernie Mac before Saturday night's game. [YouTube]

5. Would Gary Sheffield waive his no-trade clause to leave the Tigers and join a contending team? [Boston Globe via Bless You Boys]

Wasn't it on Yahoo! Sports I read...
    Hamstring, elbow, Tommy John
    Disabled list you're always on
    Mr. Hampton you're the best
    Coming off three years rest?
I think it's time to realize Carpenter's moved to the top of that injury list.
