Big League Stew - MLB

Heads up: There's some language in this video, so watch with caution

Honestly, there's no way you can watch Wiffleball '79, the short film from Travis Kurtz and Perry Jenkins that's posted above, and not want to immediately head to Kmart for a set containing a skinny yellow bat and a white plastic ball. And while you're there, you might want to grab some Hawaiian Punch and freeze pops. Oh, and your buddy Brian will bring over the bases his old man made for him from some old linoleum. All balls to right field are out!

The coolest thing about this movie is that Kurtz and Jenkins nailed the '70s look so well that I'm still shaking my head at the accuracy. Kurtz told me over email that all of the actors — save for the pitcher — grew their hair for 6-9 months in preparation for their roles. Someone described this as Dazed and Confused meets The Sandlot and that's about the best label I can think for this project. They completely hit a grand slam on the look and feeling.

Hey, is that my mom calling me in for dinner?  After this inning, ma!
