You might remember that last week I put out a call to finish my collection of MLB tattoos so that I could put together a full standings bracket.
Sadly, I received one response.
Luckily, the photo that Milwaukeean Brian Waldera sent me was of perhaps one of the coolest baseball tats I've seen ... the retro-Brewers logo inside the Grateful Dead logo in a huge arm design.
Writes Brian:
I got this tattoo about three years ago. I am a long-time Brewers fan from the days of the ball-and-glove logo and also a big fan of the Dead.I took the idea of putting the ball-and-glove with the Dead from all the lot shirts I saw with things that people loved inside the Steal Your Face logo. A guy here in Milwaukee did the artwork and I must say he did a spectacular job. I'm thinking about getting another one from him ... Maybe I can come up with one for the Packers?
I get tons of compliments on it and love to show it off. Even people who aren't fans of the Dead seem to like it although i don't think they understand the concept of it.
I'm pretty sure I went to school with approximately 3,454 men (and women) at UW-Madison who would have traded their Ron Dayne jerseys and KK drinking gloves just for the rights to this stencil.
Anyway, I'd like to thank Brian for sending that in. Let his willingness to share be another call to send in your diamond-inspired ink. If you have a cool design that you'd like to show off here on the Stew, email a picture at bigleaguestew@yahoo.com.
Tattoo logos I'm still missing (though I'll welcome any team, even if I already have 'em):Rays, Marlins, Angels, Mariners, Giants, Padres, Twins, Reds,
Royals, Rangers, Rockies, Pirates, Orioles, Brewers and Blue Jays.
