Big League Stew - MLB

Poor Juan Pierre.

From being immortalized in a Jay-Z song to being mocked by the sponsor on his own Baseball Reference page.

From the site:

" ... Freebasing grit and hustle doesn't obscure the 700+ PA's of 75 OPS+ production Pierre brings. He's a Latin David Eckstein. Bill Plaschke's unsavory fetish notwithstanding, Juan Pierre is probably the worst regular in baseball."
Worth noting that this ain't like Wikipedia, either. That's staying up there for another year, at least. [6-4-2]

At this point Pierre looks pretty good in the outfield and at the plate compared to Jim Edmonds of the Pads. I'd take Pierre any day.

Seriously what is Joe Torre's fascination with this dude? Matt Kemp is primed for a breakout year but he gives Mr Slappy St Pierre at bats like they are going out of style. Sad state of affairs the Dodgers have become.

The problem is Juan not a bad player, but he's an overpaid one. One so overpaid they can't get rid of him. Just like Jones, Jason Nomar and Kent. The problem is Ned Colletti. Jason Werth is better than both Juan and Jones and they let him go for nothing.
