Gather 'round, because it's time to recap the most recent diamond doings. Roll Call starts in Milwaukee but might end in St. Petersburg for Corey Hart(notes), if the Brewers deal him to a contender, where he can be somebody.
By the beard of Zeus! Corey Hart capped a miserable first half for the Brewers (but a terrific one for him) by crushing a hanger from Octavio Dotel(notes) for a two-run, game-ending homer. This, after the Pirates went and bothered to tie the score in the top half of the inning. It just goes to show: With a little perseverance, you can get things done. But will it be Hart's last act of kindess as a Disciple of Uecker?
Sunglasses at night — still in a dome, but also in a pennant race: Hart's next stop is Anaheim for the All-Star Game. After that, who can say? They maybe could use a man like Hart down in Tampa Bay, and a nice li'l discussion about the possibility is happening at DRaysBay.
Somebody hit something: Over in Florida, the Rays left 15 baserunners after taking 10 walks against Indians pitching. T-Bay is 9-2 this month, which is better than last month, but it'll probably need to improve its luck with RISP to keep up with the Yankees.

They Also Played...
Phillies 1, Reds 0: One Red Team swept the other, is how I look at it. ... Some of the kids in Philly prefer J.A. Happ(notes), others prefer Cole Hamels(notes). They're just so darned cute when they argue!
Twins 6, Tigers 3: A slip of the tongue by manager Jim Leyland gave away his organization's real agenda: "We haven't set the world on fire in the first half of the season, but we've done pretty well." Ah-HA! I always KNEW the Tigers were up to no good.
White Sox 15, Royals 5: Ouch! Don't try to pick up the White Sox without oven mitts, because you'll burn your hands. After falling 9 1/2 games out on June 8, the Sox went 25-5 to roar into first place in the AL Central. That includes an 11-1 record against Texas, Los Anaheim and the ATL, so don't gimme that "They didn't play nobody" crud.
Red Sox 3, Blue Jays 2: I call it the "Game of Shadows" or "The Time They Couldn't Close the Rogers Centre Dome All The Way And Look What Happened — Oh, You Can't Look Because Of The Shadows."
Giants 6, Nationals 2: Buster Posey(notes) is 18 for his past 36 (.500) with five homers and 14 RBIs. There was some talk of Stephen Strasburg(notes) going to the All-Star Game despite just arriving to the majors. If he should have gone, Posey should have, too.
Orioles 4, Rangers 1: Thanks for the sweep, Juan Samuel. But Mr. Showalter's here, so you can go now.
Athletics 5, Angels 2: The Angels' prospects helped to win the Futures Game, though. That do it for ya'?
Marlins 2, D-backs 0: Kirk Gibson! Or Evil Captain Picard?
Yankees 8, Mariners 2: That makes eight straight victories for CC Sabathia(notes). He'll get to tip his cap in Anaheim on Tuesday. ... Can the M's not send down Ryan Rowland-Smith(notes) because he's from Australia, and there's some visa thing? Is that it?
