Big League Stew - MLB

The Yankees employ long-standing regulations about personal grooming standards when it comes to hair, but it seems like SOME people are flouting the rules. Hmm, Johnny Damon(notes)?

That's OK, with the World Series returning to the Big Gotham. The N.Y. Daily News has found local options for ballplayer hair-trimming — if the Yanks only follow the lead of folks in the seats.

Fans who have spirit (yes, they do!) are headed to borough barbershops and salons to have a stylist shave the Yankees' logo into their heads.

Party like it's 1992. The haircuts recall to some the 2000 Subway Series (the last World Series the Yanks won, oddly enough) in which fans declared their allegiance to either the Mets or Yankees by trimming their domes appropriately. The Phillies forcing Game 6 apparently is enough to make some New Yorkers' hair stand on end.

From the Daily News:

"I only do it for the World Series," says Tom McBride, a 38-year-old electrician from Queens.

Only for the Series. Astor Place Hair Designers in the East Village, for example, charges $40 for this service.

The price falls well within the budgets of Damon and teammate Nick Swisher(notes) — whose "Swish Hawk" looks more like a Jimmy Neutron pompadour and needs to go. It's killing the Boss on the inside.

Whatever the Yanks do, they must act soon. Damon turns into the Wolfman any midnight now.

... Yeah, I'd like a lot off the top and the Empire State Building in the back. ...

Hey Yankee fans, I just wanted to let you people know .We are up 3-2 going home. We did take 2 out of three in philly to put us in this position. So we hit a bump with A.J ...So what! The Phillys have no Hammels, Pedro , and no one the Yankees have not seen. We did not show them Marte, Joba, or Moe . The only problem with thuis series is the play by play by Joe Suck..I mean Buck And Tim (always wrong) McCaver. Reporters say they are calling a fair game. Well look at moments like Tex hitting the homerun aghainst Pedro they stopped talking and said nothing as the ball cleared the wall, then they both said A-rods Homerun was not a homerun even after the replay.I,m sorry to say this but if you thibnk these two Bozos have anything good to say about the Yankees you should go back to broadcasting school. The facts are that every game on Fox with the Yankees gets called against them by Buck and McCaver they by far are the worst play by play in the league next to Joe Morgan who also hates the Yankees.guys like Buck, McCaver, Joel sherman, and morgan should go report in Boston. After the Yankees win the Series they will have some other garbage they will spew out like" This team was not as good as the other Yankee teams. (GARBAGE!)

No problem with the Yankees! Pedro doesn't scare us because we have great defense and the batters will hit on Pedro's watch. Andy Pettit will come through with some help from the batters.

Mute the sound on the TV. They are horrible broadcasters who love to hear themselves talk. But they are in good company. Most people hate the Yankees.

jmcfind, its not just Red Sox fans that think obnoxious retarded yankee fans are annoying, its EVERYONE who has ever had to read their posts, listen to their ignorance or read about their idiocity. Most yankee fans couldn't tell you the difference between a 4 seamer and a 2 seamer, but they'll tell you all day long about how (insert yankee player) is the best in the league at his position.
You guys are worse than Cowboy fans. No joke.
