Photo: Arnold Palmer waits out rain to support his Pirates

Oh, there are so many things to love about this picture of Arnold Palmer and his wife Kathleen waiting for the Pittsburgh Pirates to vault themselves into first place with a 2-0 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Monday night.

The fact that the proud Pittsburghers are sitting in the stands at PNC Park, not a suite!

And they're dressed in Bucco black and gold!

Plus the King has a box of Cracker Jack at hand! (That's the detail that makes the whole shot.)

Forever a man of the people and, honestly, this might be the most American picture I've ever seen. Palmer is probably the only athlete that can show up to a ballgame the same night as Joe Montana and steal away Joe's cool card.

It's also worth noting that Arnie isn't a bandwagoner, either. He celebrated his 80th birthday with the team in 2009 — passing up a similar opportunity with the Steelers — and delivered the game's ceremonial first pitch as Arnie's Army cheered.
