Pedro Martinez passes physical, expected to sign with Phillies

Breaking: Free-agent pitcher Pedro Martinez (notes) passed his physical with the Phillies about 20 minutes ago, clearing the way for him to sign a deal with the defending world champions. A press conference announcing his signing is expected to be held Wednesday in Philadelphia.
