As I scan Tuesday's newspapers, it would appear that Monday redefined the term "slow news day."
The New York Times had a story on the Phillies arriving by train in Penn Station, just as the team in 1950 did.
The Philadelphia Daily News ran a "Red Hot and Sexy Phillies" story that was an insult to female baseball fans.
The New York Post did the traditional "that other town sucks" column, only it was pumped full of steroids.
Finally, the New York Daily News won the feelgood story of the day award with a piece on little 16-month-old Jeter Villacis, who just had a heart transplant and received a letter of encouragement and a giant Yankees care package from his shortstop namesake.
Thankfully, with only one day to go until Game 1, the news machine has already kicked into a higher gear. Charlie Manuel just announced that Pedro Martinez(notes) will start Thursday's Game 2 (making Dave Brown a happy camper) and we're sure to get some more bits and bytes when the two teams convene this afternoon for their workouts.
It's currently overcast and quite wet in New York, but I'm headed over to Yankee Stadium to bring the best of workout day to Big League Stew and the ol' Twitter feed.
Until then, enjoy the cover of today's NY Post (and try not to have nightmares).

Having said that, it would be in rather poor taste to comment about the relative "hotness" of the Phillies vs. Yankees, so I won't. Except to say that Shane Victorino has nice knees.
