One Day More: World Series workout day is here

As I scan Tuesday's newspapers, it would appear that Monday redefined the term "slow news day."

The New York Times had a story on the Phillies arriving by train in Penn Station, just as the team in 1950 did.

The Philadelphia Daily News ran a "Red Hot and Sexy Phillies" story that was an insult to female baseball fans.

The New York Post did the traditional "that other town sucks" column, only it was pumped full of steroids.

Finally, the New York Daily News won the feelgood story of the day award with a piece on little 16-month-old Jeter Villacis, who just had a heart transplant and received a letter of encouragement and a giant Yankees care package from his shortstop namesake.

Thankfully, with only one day to go until Game 1, the news machine has already kicked into a higher gear. Charlie Manuel just announced that Pedro Martinez(notes) will start Thursday's Game 2 (making Dave Brown a happy camper) and we're sure to get some more bits and bytes when the two teams convene this afternoon for their workouts.

It's currently overcast and quite wet in New York, but I'm headed over to Yankee Stadium to bring the best of workout day to Big League Stew and the ol' Twitter feed.

Until then, enjoy the cover of today's NY Post (and try not to have nightmares).

Is this what the Post is all about? Mullet wrapper is all this rag is.No class just like most New Yorkers. No class at all.

At least the Post is funny (and true). The daily news was delusional enough to say that the Frillies are a better looking team. Really? i hope they all have there hair done to help celebrate #27. And as for no class, this is Philly were talking about. They invented no class. There earned that title of worst sports fans in the country. I just hop yanks win it in game six, Because if they win it all at Philly you know those classless philly folks will try and ruin the celebration by booeing and throwing stuff on the field.

Yes yankees define class, if that entails Steroids, Madonna's STD's, $10 Hot chocolates, pricing out their real fans, playing out the pie in the face gag to way too long. Yankees are a a group of mercenaries doing their best impression of being a "team".

Hey 'Duk, thanks for recognizing that female fans are interested in more than just the players' looks. Some of us, you know, actually like baseball.
Having said that, it would be in rather poor taste to comment about the relative "hotness" of the Phillies vs. Yankees, so I won't. Except to say that Shane Victorino has nice knees.
