Big League Stew - MLB

This kid who fell over the outfield wall before Wednesday's Mets-Phillies game at Citizens Bank Ballpark  is said to be A-OK, but here's the part where I do my impression of a newsreader and say (in a deep , important voice): "Warning: What we're about to show you may be disturbing to some viewers."

You know, when I was a kid attending batting practice in the bleachers of the old Comiskey Park, I'd use to wonder what the heck would happen if I fell over the wall while trying to catch a home run ball.

Wrigley Field, after all, had a basket to catch you; The Baseball Palace of the World did not. Would you survive? Would you die? Would the players come over to help you?

(Hey, I was a pretty contemplative kid with a lot of time on my hands to think.)

Well, thanks to this little guy now I finally know. It would hurt. You would cry. Your shoes would fall off. And Mike Pelfrey would take a break from shagging flies to see if you were OK.

A big BLS head nod to World of Isaac, who posted this before it went all viral on us.

and you'd get to be on the Today show to tell your story, get an autographed ball & bat from Ryan Howard, and get tix to a future Phillies game. Seriously, shouldn't this kid get in trouble for leaning too far over the wall?

C'mon how about a little respect? That kid has some cat-like reflexes. He may not have landed on his feet but (considering that he started out neck-first) that took some fine contorting just to land on his back.

This should provide ammo in my ongoing attempt to have leash laws instituted for all children under age 18.

If the kid had landed on his head, he would have been named president of the Phillies fan club.
