Warning: The following video contains swearing en Espanol

The folks over at Redleg Nation just uncovered this video entitled "Maceo y Edinson Volquez" on YouTube and it's a fascinating one. The guy in the driver's seat bears a striking resemblance to Reds star Edinson Volquez and is even identified by the passenger as such. Meanwhile, the passenger is believed to be mambo star Maceo, who spends most of the video doing the talking.

According to a friend who speaks Spanish, the passenger tells viewers that there are no drugs in the car. Then, after being passed a handgun by the driver, he waves it before going on a rant against "****talkers," which is why he's "bringing it."

Of course, we can't know what's going on here without a larger context and we don't want to infer that any laws were being broken. The clip could very well be a poorly-shot preview for Maceo's next video as the end text seems to suggest. Still, in an age where even Michael Phelps can have his reputation damaged, you'd have to think that this isn't a clip Volquez would want up on YouTube.

UPDATE: C. Trent Rosecrans has spoken with the Reds and the team knows about the video. They are "gathering information" and will make a statement later.

UPDATE #2: The Reds confirm my initial hunch and say it was part of a professional video shoot. Still not sure why they'd want one of their stars featured with a firearm, though.

Ernie Banks wears a cap that says "Mr. Cub" on it. But if he's carrying, it's concealed.

I have not doub that the person is Edison Volque. Being born in the Dominican Republic I can understand how these bunch of ignorants behave.

This Maceo guy stinks. Edinson should enlist former Reds great George Foster to produce music videos for him.

Well, that settles it . . . the Rangers officially got the better end of the Hamilton/Volquez trade. Questions on character were speculated and they probably thought it was just a matter of time before he Plaxico's himself.

What's wrong with carrying a firearm in the U.S, Simply necessary for self defence & as Jesse James supposedly said while some of his pals were watching a ball game and--- encouraging Jess to have a look--- by telling him that it was the National Pastime.
"No !" Said Jesse who was cleaning his pistol at the time. "This here is the National Pastime"

Hey abc --- Hamilton is an ex - all around druggie- whohas difficuty completing a full season. Edinson ain't doing no wrong and he is probably the Reds opening day starter. Hamilton was a good guess by Wayne Krivsky but he was soon moved after one respectable season for Volquez who won 16 games witha team that finished 12 games under .500

Would've been a far more interesting vid, if it went off by accident.. as homey was putting it into the ARM REST and pointing it at the star MLB Starting Pitcher. (Not injuring too bad, of course.) Other that that, this is just an insight into the DOPEY world of "kids today" and how they believe gangsta rap is a sort of lifestyle -- and too much $$$ to easy and without needing brain-power to get it, can be a bad thing for who you're associating with. May the ghost of Jackie Robinson visit this athlete and many others... and give them a HUGE back-slap across the jaw for that which hey abuse.

Ahhh---- put a lid on it casapulla. These aren't kids, unless childhood now extends into the mid-twenties. Who says the thing was loaded? From trying to read your mangled prose I would have to assume that you are a bit DOPEY. There are no ghosts and these people aren't doing anything wrong. Get back into your pulpit and preach to the Do-Gooders !!!

really? who cares? The media has to make a big deal out of stuff. Just to get the interest of readers. This is so stupid. Volquez is a good guy. It would be a whole lot different if it were used or fired. He just flashes it ...whoopty doo....walk down the streets of Cincinnati and you see that everyday...big deal.

Not sure if this was shot in teh Domincan Republic but there it is legal for anyone to carry a fire arm. Might be a dumb thing but we can't judge him by North American Laws when he isn't here....
