Big League Stew - MLB

In one of the season's more humorous run-ins, Alex Rodriguez(notes) collided with a Toronto police woman during New York's 10-5 win over the Blue Jays on Thursday night.

The Yankees third baseman had been trying to catch a pop foul from Lyle Overbay(notes), but the momentum generated from the miss took him straight into the path of the fleeing officer and created jeeeeest a bit of an awkward Billy Madison moment — "Ya double dare me?" — when he tried to regain his balance. The Rogers Centre crowd, of course, responded with boos.

Said A-Rod after the game

"I'm just glad she didn't read me my rights. Only me. Oh my god, how embarrassing."

For A-Rod's sake, here's hoping that Kate wasn't watching. But why does it seem that A-Rod saves all of his compromising positions until he crosses the border to Toronto?

Watch a video of the international incident here or check out a few additional screencaps of  below:

Lady in Nike hat: "And to think he had been behaving himself lately!"

* * *

Kid in Blue Jays jersey: "Hey! A-Rod's stealing my move from middle school!"

* * *

A-Rod: "Have you ever been on the cover of the New York Post? Would you like to be?"

* * *

Policewoman: "Just my luck. Why couldn't it have been Jeter chasing after that one?"

    I agree with post 11..Antonio sounds like a 4th grader trying to explain to average intelligent people how the system works...Antonio needs to put in a room with children so they can explain how to use the ENGLISH language to him...GOD IS GREAT ..BEER IS GOOD..PEOPLE ARE CRAZY...GO YANKS...

    Should have knocked her into the stands. Dumb cop. She should have been 20 ft from that play. The highlight of her career for sure.

    Imagine the S***she got at the station after the game. A classic game of hilarity for the yankees. Jeter couldnt get the donut off his bat. A-Rod cops a feel on a cop. @ Antonio you are a stereotyped philadelphia fan. I'm not a yankees fan but their schedule is pretty difficult. They have to go to the west coast one more to play the Angels time and play boston, tampa bay. All are playoff contenders. It is my biggest pet peeve when people think they know sports and talk sports. Bottom line do some research before you talk about other teams.

    The best A-Rod/crowd-related moment of the night was when that idiot tried to taunt him by throwing a foul ball back onto the field. First the guy smacked his friend in the face with his follow-through, giving his friend a bloody nose, then he was ejected from the game. Fail, fail, fail.

    Antonio,
    What a lousy piece of writing! Did you have to post it twice? Learn how posting works if you're going to attempt it.
    What can you expect from somebody filled with such hate though? Baseball is a game. Learn how to enjoy it! Go Yankees! What a great season they have given us so far this year. Thanks to all you pinstripes!

    Hey Antonio....Not only are you an idiot but you're also.......Well, an idiot! Not only were your comments rediculously stupid, but then you posted it twice. Playing in the American league East automatically places the Yankees schedule among the toughest in baseball. Come back in and post when you IQ gets above 65.
