Many of you know that I wasn't on board with John Sterling's "Something Sort of Grandish" call of Curtis Granderson's(notes) first home run as a Yankee. Yeah, some guy named Quincy emailed and suggested I was a troglodyte for not knowing of a recently resurrected Broadway play but I thought the "Finian's Rainbow" reference was just a tad too obscure for our baseball crowd.
Now, Sterling's "Grandy Man" call that he used after Granderson won Wednesday night's game with a 10th-inning homer? Consider me a fan. Not only does it give me the excuse to link to a great Sammy Davis Jr. clip I'm familiar with, it also gives the ever-fantastic It Is High, It Is Far, It Is ... Caught a chance to mix the two worlds up.
