Big League Stew - MLB

So who's going to tell the Senator that either he or his speechwriter owes the Rays a dollar for dropping the D-bomb at a Tampa campaign stop? Hey, if a terminally-ill teenager has to pay the fine, so does Biden.

What a moron. I hate politicans that try and suck up to voters through sports and teams they know nothing about- like John Kerry admiring the play of Red Sox star Manny Ortiz was it?
Unfortunately, it seems to fall on partisan lines. Bush obviously know who Sammy Sosa was cause he traded him, and Guiliani and McCain both seem to know the teams the attend and support.

You can probably excuse Biden for not following baseball that closely when his two local teams are the Orioles and Nationals.
The TBS on-field reporter dropped the D-bomb while interviewing B.J. Upton after the Rays wrapped up the series. That was much worse.

Nah, Joe's two local teams are, "Katie's Restaurant" and "Home Depot".
Katie's been closed from about 1990 and nobody has ever seen Biden at any Home Depot near Wimington, DE. I guess Neil Kinnock wrote about that a few years ago and it just got to Joe yesterday.

I agree, I hate it when politicians try to suck up to voters by trying to relate with them through sports or whatever. If they're going to do it they could at least pretend to know what or who they're talking about.

I bet that Neil Kinnock knows more about baseball than the vice president of hair plugs for men.

What are the Angels called this week?
Come on, they shortened their name last year, and it ain't like they've been around very long anyway.

Alot of people still call the Ray's the Devil Rays by accident. And as for MikeD's comment that this falls on partisan lines, that's not necessarily true. Although Guiliani does go to alot of Yankee games, you can't forget that during the World Series last year, he came out and said he was going to root for the Red Sox, saying that he was a fan of the American League. Now, if he was a true Yankees fan, he would never ever root for the Red Sox, no matter what.
