So the glorious return of The Office is now only about four hours away and I'm having trouble concentrating. There are very few shows that interrupt my night-baseball watching, but the baby of Ken Tremendous is one of them. Eight p.m. (CST) can't get here soon enough.
Until then, I thought I'd take a stab at matching up each Office character with the baseball team he or she pulls for. We already know that Jim likes Philadelphia-area sports teams, so the only sure thing we can count on is that Pam is sleeping over in a well-worn Chase Utley jersey these days. (That would also make Pamchop a Phillies fan.)
Here are my other guesses and why. Feel free to leave your ventured thoughts on the loyalties of Scranton's finest in the comments below ...
• Michael likes the Yankees ... for the same reasons he drives a Chrysler Sebring and packs white "party" jeans for an out-of-town conference. (Also, David Cone tends to be good for a "That's what she said" every now and then.)
•Dwight likes the Blue Jays ... but only because his glasses would qualify him for an instant lieutenancy in the ranks of Tom Henke's Army.
• Kelly likes the Cubs ... since that blue-pinstriped Mark Prior t-shirt jersey still looks so cute when paired with her jean skirt and pink "Cubbie" hat. (When is he pitching next?)
• Jan likes the Rays ... who are also sexy on the surface, but liable to be a mess once you commit.
• Ryan likes the Red Sox ... who also used to be a lovable underling who could do no right. But now that they've both experienced success and are at the top, everyone likes them a lot less.
• Kevin likes the Reds ... because Scrantonicity once did an opening set for Bronson Arroyo.
• Oscar likes the Giants ... (cut to shot of Kevin laughing).
• Angela likes the Tigers ... even though they've been playing like they've been placed in the freezer alongside Sprinkles.
• Toby likes the Rangers ... because they also try hard, but never seem to gain any respect.
• Andy likes the Expos ... and always has since made a few road trips to Olympic Stadium when he attended a little school named Cornell. (Maybe you've heard of it?)
• Meredith likes the Brewers ... but only because there's no team named the distillers.
• Stanley likes the Dodgers ... and not the Lakers, as Michael assumed.
• Darryl likes the White Sox ... and not the Bulls (see above).
• Phyllis likes the Cardinals ... ever since the actress who plays her was a cheerleader for the St. Louis Cardinals of the NFL. (Really.)
• Creed likes jai alai.Big League Stew is an MLB blog edited by Kevin Kaduk. Email him, and follow him on Twitter.

..or maybe he's a Mariner's fans -- since that's another name for sailors.
We all know that he's not a fan of the Phillies, though. But maybe the Colts. That was lame.

I tried to figure out a way to make at least one of the characters root for the Mets. Maybe Katy (Amy Adams), the really cute girlfriend Jim had in season three because she looked so good but faded from the picture so fast? That sort of reminds me of the Mets in September '07.
