As the enduringly loyal folks over at Camden Chat note, today is the 1-year anniversary of the Cowboys' Rangers' modern-day record-setting 30-3 win over the Ravens Orioles at Camden Yards. Luckily, followers of the O's are feeling a bit better about their fortunes than they were a year ago.
Writes Camden Chat's Stacey:
"On August 22, 2007, the Orioles were 58-65 (prior to game time). This year on August 22, the Orioles are 61-65. Not much of a difference really. But this year really feels different, doesn't it? Maybe it's because we haven't yet suffered the late season swoon. Maybe next year on August 22nd we'll be saying, "This year feels so different from last year" much like I am today. But I don't think so. I really do think this is the beginning of the good times for the Orioles and for us as their fans. I think in a few years we'll look back on 2008 fondly as the year this team finally started to get it together."
It's almost like they have a new lease on life up there in Charm City, huh? Imagine how much better they'll feel once they land hometown boy Mark Teixeira in the offseason.
Personally, I always thought that 30-3 game was interesting because so much of the coverage centered not around how many runs the Rangers scored but rather how many runs the O's allowed.
Kinda backs up the belief that you don't win a baseball game, you simply just don't lose it.
(I know ... That was deep, wasn't it?)

It's one thing to give up 30 runs, but what about 30 unanswered runs? Not a garbage field goal (three-run homer) or two?
