The Tigers haven't even played a game this year, but third base coach Gene Lamont has already caused trouble with his green light. As Tom Gage of the Detroit News reports, Lamont and manager Jim Leyland were golfing on Tuesday when Lamont drove the cart over Leyland's right foot, breaking one of his skipper's little toes in the process.
Leyland said he didn't require any medical attention and he wasn't even going to finger Lamont for his injured toe until word somehow leaked to the Detroit writers.
Even so, Lamont has to know that the Tigers will not abide another broken toe this spring. Next time he should make sure his cart is clear before heading to his ball.
