The Red Sox and Yankees are just getting their four-game series underway in the Bronx and Yahoo! Sports' own Gordon Edes is reporting that David Ortiz(notes) is expected to break his silence when it comes to last week's PED report from the New York Times.
As Edes reports, Big Papi will hold a joint Saturday press conference with Michael Weiner, general counsel of the player's union. It isn't known exactly what Ortiz and Weiner will choose to address, but it will be the first time Ortiz talks about his reported appearance on the 2003 PED list since being "blindsided" by the news and promising reporters he'd find out more before getting back to them.
However, those expecting Ortiz to disclose the substance that triggered the positive test might be left disappointed. As Edes notes: "Because the results are under a court seal, Ortiz, or the players union acting on his behalf, will have to file a legal motion asking the court to unseal that evidence. To date, the union has not shown a willingness to do so."
