I really thought Tek was kill the Sox if he came back and gobbled up 250 at-bats... but I crunched the numbers and Victor Martinez is good enough to balnce out another .220 BA season from Tek and still keep the Sox productive at catcher...

Tek along with Big Papi and Mike Lowell are back for one more go-round. I see Jason Varitek as a future coach and or manager.

Yeah Tek is washed up like a frat party rug! he should go work the old score board in left! he can not hit has no arm and has issue cause he wants to like A-rod ,but knows he is straight so this bothers him.Varadick should help with broken hearts of all Red Dork fans who hated the fact that they won the first 9 to Yankees onlyto be tied in the end and the Yankees won the whole thing ..NO choke. NO curse of A-rod crap. The Steroid thing went quite when Big poppa -roid and Manny were mentioned. 2004* ? and 2007*? I guess that topic is over.Go get varadick some chowda! Yankees 27 Sox 2 what rivalary?

He's a truly terrible baseball player. No doubt part of Roid Sux nation, juicing it up with Mueller, Millar, Manny, Papi and Hurt Schilling. That's why they all burned out so fast and become nothing. He had so many big at bats in '08 against the Rays and choked every time. And that "C" on his jersey is awful, this ain't hockey, Dead Sox. No need for it. Now the "captain" will be the "backup catcher", who hits .200 and plays 30 games. OUCH. That's GOTTA sting, red sux fans. HAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAAH

While I disapprove of the Sox use of *gulp* PEDs, the Yankee fans on this board are like the pot calling the kettle black. Remember Giambi? ARod? Knoblauch? Pettite? Clemens? Sheffield? Leyritz? Stanton? Both teams have had their images tarnished. Let's just apply asterisks where they belong and move forward...sheesh.

I agree w bryan v...i'm a yankees fan and i can't comment on the roids, nor can any other team for that matter...every team had juicers on their squad...it wasn't a team problem, it was an MLB problem including both minor and major leagues...they need blood testing to prove that anyone is clean...even the piss tests now don't prove crap...i'm sure hundreds of players are still on roids now...but i guess no matter what testing they implement players will always find undetectables and ways around the system...there will always be cheats...its a part of the game and a part of life

I am glad to see Tek in Boston as a long time fan favorite and a hard working player . Out of many players that wore the uniform Varitek has nothing but my respect . He never had to back up to the paywindow he worked for everything he got . No doubt about he was a part of the team that won the W/S numbers aside When he retires I'll miss him and would love to see him instill his work ethic on younger players .

i like Jason and no i dont think he was on drugs. i would feel bad if he left the Redsox. He has been thier Captain almost forever. I love the Redsox they are my favorite team. It seems like everyone is getting a little older but it does not mean they are not any less better. and Jason has had a bad year like a lot of players ;he has a tough go . Weather he continues with the Redsox or not is strictly up to him and the management. Whateever they decide -- iam with them all the way.

It'll be similar or slightly less to what it was like after Victor Martinez arrived. Some catching and some sitting but he did produce offensively above & beyond his output of '08, even with a low average.

Hey Bob N...Henry already did open up the checkbook and buy 2 championships, in 2004 and 2007. Plenty of free agents with large contracts. Youkilis is the only one left from the 2004 team that is from the Red Sox farm system and he was only a part time player in 2004.
