It's a lose/lose for the Mets with Reyes. Maybe a little victory if Reyes can end up performing decent for them, but if they let him go to another team and he is sucessful, then it's a loss for the Mets because they had to endure with him on the DL. If they keep him and he continues this day-to-day, week-to-week, month-to-month type of rehab and setbacks then the Mets are just wasting money. When are GM's gonna learn that you should NEVER give ANYBODY a contract longer than perhaps 3-4 years? Who has ever lived up to expectations of a big contract?

I for one like the fake umps and wish they'd go to Rockies games since MLB has all but made it impossible to actually watch clips of them.

Reyes should have had surgery 2 months ago, as soon as it became obvious the Mets had no shot. But the front office staged a dog and pony show with theiir fans, leading them on: "just wait til all the invalids get back..." Jose has long had problems with the hamstring; if the surgery can fix it, he might come back better than before. Mets fans used to say, "as goes Reyes, so go the Mets..." He didn't go, and neither did the Mets, except to 4th place. Reyes is the team's catalyst. To those who say trade him, I say maybe, but only for a Halladay, Greinke or Felix Hernandez. And if they get this guy Chapman, they don't even need to consider that.

I have NO clue why all of a sudden there is talks about losing Reyes or him going to another team. He had a nagging injury all season. 1 SEASON!! A lot of guys have that. In my opinion it was EITHER misdiagnosed or his rehab was handled terribly. To start saying now that he wont perform anymore or we should let him get away is absolutely ridiculous. In case many of you havent noticed but he has had 600+ at bats 4 years in a row till this season. He is not injury-plagued like some idiots think. Give him time, REAL time to recover, handle it properly in the off-season and let him come back healhty and stonr next season. Geeze talk about panicking! WTF!!!

It's not just about one season. Reyes has shown himself to be a player who can't be relied on when the money is on the line. Apart from this year, his lack of production down the stretch was high on the list of contributing factors in the two Mets collapses.
Speaking as a Phillies fan, I hope the Mets keep him. What more reason could the Mets have to get rid of him than that everyone in Philly wants them to keep him?
