Big League Stew - MLB

NEW YORK — My time in the Big Apple is drawing to a close — there's a plane at LaGuardi to catch — but this whole World Series bender on the East Coast has certainly had its share of moments. Here are a few candid shots I took on my clunky point-and-shoot during Wednesday's celebration at Yankee Stadium. From paparazzo shots of Spike Lee and Jason Sudeikis to pictures of the crowded clubhouse scene, I'm amazed at how they turned out.

We'll have plenty of more World Series goodness once Stew Force One touches back down in the Windy City, but I want to thank everyone for coming along on the ride for both the regular season and all of our postseason coverage. It's always an honor and a pleasure and I already can't wait to do it again next season. Go baseball.

The Yankees follow the rules of baseball, so how is it that the Yankees somehow ruined the sport? All the other owners of MLB teams have the money to spend, but choose not to. You have to spend money to make money, and all the other owners don't give a crap about their fans or their teams enough to invest in them. All of you whinning, sniveling losers should be mad at the owners of your favorite teams, not the Yankees. You all WISH your teams could be winners, but they never will be.
They will lose, because that's what losers do.

Here is the point to all of you haters. The Yankee's have not cheated by spending as much as they do. There is no salary cap in baseball. Very many, if not all of the other, teams could spend as much as the Yankee's. The main reason why so many free agents want to play on the Yankee's is because of their greatness. They know if they sign that same huge contract with another team, they will likely be the only top player on that team and it would be nearly impossible to even come close to the world series. But regardless, no one has any argument against how much the yankees spend. It's all jealousy. Plain and simple. And usually, most of the great teams are hated by many. Look at the Lakers... alot of people hate them. Same with the Celtics. Same with the Patriots. Most of the country hates the Yankees. I guess that makes them even better. I love it when ESPN shows a poll that all the states in the U.S. except 3 hate the Yankees. That's some huge jealousy there, and only proves the absolute greatness of the Yankees. No one has any argument otherwise. PERIOD!

The other teams do not have the same money as the Yankees. They buy the best free agents. ESPN has said nothing about steroids (Giambi, A-Rod, Pettitte, etc). They have the best juiced players money can buy. As soon as I seen the Yankees were going to win, I turned the channel. I hope the ratings went into the toilet.

let us yankee fans enjoy our title regardless of how much money they pay their players, steroids are the past of most teams not only yankees just some players were able to cover their tracks alot better than others. as to how much front office pays the players i have a question for you sore losers if there was twenty companies that did the work you do would you go to the company that pays more and is recognized as an elite company or would you go to the company that pays half-butt and known as a LOSER

    # 8 - Jim C - Your ignorance of reality is staggering.
Your futile attempts to pass this championship off as cheating or steroid related is childish, idiotic and ill-informed.
Most of the other teams are also owned by billionaires.
They have the money, they choose not to spend it.
The ratings would have been in the toilet if it weren’t for the Yankees.
Sorry, but it’s true. The Yankees = nationwide ratings.
Steroids have absolutely nothing to do with the 2009 Yankees.
    Stop living in the past.
Oh yeah......Giambi isn’t even on the team, retard.

The Yankees didn't buy the World Series............they won it fair and square. There was alot of BAD calls by the Umpires on both sides and we still managed to win. Hell yeah!!!!!!!!!!! As for the HATERS DEXTER AND JAMES, when teams work as a TEAM this is the end result- THE 27TH WORLD SERIES CHAMPS.

Hey New Dork,I'm not angry with any teams owners, including yours. Enjoy the parade. That's what being a fan is all about. Lighten up,don't take everyone's posts so seriously as a personal attack. It just shows how uptight you are that you have to respond to any slight against YOUR team.

lol at the Yankee haters. You guys just don't let up ever. I mean, they are the WORLD CHAMPIONS, it's been done very fairly, and you still cant give them credit for being a good team that won within the rules. You poor, self loathing idiots.
Oh, and eaglesgrl127, The Yankee's won the World Series. So actually, The Phillies are number 2. Because they got their asses kicked in four games against a team that is actually number 1.

Hey New York.....you say other teams dont care about their fans......Yankees show they care by hiking up those seat prices so much they couldnt sell out all their post season games....can you feel the love?
Steiner is whiney...BOO HOO DH for everyone! my pitcher hurt himself running...BOO HOO!
Yankees can't develop their own players. No reputable farm system. They must buy their talent. If a salary cap does happen...yankees will drown.
And New Dork..every other team does not have the money to spend...it is not that they choose not to spend. you are the ill-informed. Look up the the earnings historicals as related to salaries paid.

So many miiss the point here. First of all, Congrats to the Yankees. They proved they were the best team in baseball this year. Congrats to their fans, as overbearing and totyally non endearing that they may be.. I can only say ---fugetaboutit....nice, real nice. And to think that New Yorkers of a certain ilk think people in the south sound stupid when they talk... The Yankees didn't cheat, they merely took advantage of a system which will undoubtedly ruin the game, in spite of all the statistics that attendance was up this year versus other sports.
I'm a lifelong baseball guy...played it for quite a while and respect that regardless of what a player is being paid, that is irrelevant when a 90 mph fastball is headed in your direction.
The problem is that the Yankees are Goldman Sachs competeing against the local bank on the corner...really, why does everyone take glee when the Yankees fail??? A real no brainer. The playing field is at least somewhat level in other sports...how DOES Green bay compete with the Cowboys ??
Baseball wil die as we know it if some salary restraints aren't put into play soon. Ignoring the typical goomba mouth breathing Yankee fan, any one with half a brain knows that the Yankees NEED the Royals, Twins, Rays and Mariners to keep a league together....I know that lightning strikes once in a while - I experienced it first hand last year in St Petersburg ( uh, NOT Tampa ) with the Rays, but just watch...will the Yankees replace Petite with Cliff Lee ?? Posada with Joe Mauer ?? Matsui with Albert Pulojs? Damon with Jason Bay ??? No question each or all of those moves can happen and there 's nothing the other teams can do about it.. Congratulations Yankee fan, you live in New York ( for some god awful reason - but that's beside the point )
Bud Selig is a worthless idiot making 20 mil a year doing basically nothing. I'm jealous- I'd like his job.Unless the owners take a hard look at the game 5-10 years down the road, I'm going to spend my baseball dollars watching the Clearwater Phillies , the Charlotte Rays or the Tampa Yankees....watching baseball at its roots, not the major market dominated mess that MLB has already become.
Yankee fans, have your fun, your team of latter day mercenaries has won. but beware, that faint smell in the distance is the smell of MLB burning while you fiddle away in rapt ignorance......
