I hadn't seen this line of thinking until this picture, but I'm a sucker for such theories. For example, I remember in 1999, when every Golden Domer had a national title scheduled for the football Irish. The reason? Notre Dame had won in '66, '77 and '88 and each national title came in the coach's third season. Of course, none of this accounted for the fact that Bob Davie was running the show in South Bend and the team went 5-7.
This sign by this Mets fan in Miami seems just as specious, so make of it what you will.
For one, the years and correlations are conveniently manipulated. The '86 Giants won AFTER the '86 Mets did (Super Bowl XXI was actually in 1987), but the '69 Jets won BEFORE the Mets '69 season. A little continuity would have been nice.
For another, the Giants won in the 1990 season and that title was sandwiched by two playoff-free seasons by the Mets. How to explain 91 wins in '90 and 77 in '91?
This '08 squad does have Johan Santana instead of Bob Davie, though. Santana and the Mets are currently cruising against the Marlins, a team that will collectively make $21 million this year. At that rate, the Fightin' Fish would need almost seven seasons to equal the $137.5 million value of Santana's new contract.

Case in point. Yankees wanted santana badly but not enough to give up their young studs. I was hoping he would just go away but not to the Red Sox or Mets. I knew both those teams would not have to give up as much as the Yankees. The Mets gave up much less to get Santana than the Yankees had to give up. Now all season long we will hear sports writers claiming what a mistake Yankees made to not get Santana. I predict that. Forgotten will be the asking price. I will love to see justice somehow.. Santana did not have a great second half last year. LET"S SE WHAT HAPPENS!

Just because they played in those respective stadiums, that doesnt mean they should go together!
I have always been a Mets/Giants/Rangers fan.
If we go on Your philosophy, Then All Yankees fans should also be Mets fans too! I mean they did play at Shea while they were re-modelling Yankee Stadium in the 70's, And also for a few days when a big chunk of balcony fell in the 90's
Besides, This is all just crazy fools trying to rile us Idiots up anyway!
May we All have fun in 2008!!!

- I've been a Dodger fan forever. I quit going to Dodger-Mets games at Dodger stadium because there are more Mets fans than Dodger fans and they are the rudest fans ever. Obscene gestures and rude language in front of the kids. I don't hate the Mets, but the fans aren't very likable.
- Now let's talk baseball. The Mets are a good mix of youngsters and some seasoned (not too seasoned) players. Santana is not the answer to everything, but it's not going to hurt to have him in the lineup. Wright, Reyes, Beltran,... will all make the Mets very competitive this year. It's always about staying healthy and not flaming out before the playoffs. All you can ask for is to be in the mix all year to make it interesting.
