Big League Stew - MLB

I don't know if we don't affix loutish labels for Canadian fans just because they're north of the border, but it's probably time to start including Blue Jays supporters with those of the Phillies, White Sox and Dodgers whenever we unfairly paint  fanbases with the broadest of brushes.

Drunk Jays Fans? Hey, if the name fits. Over the past two seasons, we've seen the 500 level turn into a Golden Gloves tournament, Rogers Centre forced to go dry as a Kansas county on Sunday and, for all the good that Labatt's can do, there's been a lot of simply deplorable behavior like this (NSFW).

Jays fans added to their resume on Monday night when two women — yes, females — were booted from the ballpark after aiming a beer at the head of Rays center fielder B.J.  Upton while he caught a drive by Marco Scutaro(notes) for the second out of the eighth inning

Luckily, Upton didn't get sudsed at all and was able to escape his Al Smith during the 1959 Series moment. Here's what he told TampaBay.com:

"I was turning around to walk back to my position, and I saw the umpire walking over and everyone was looking down at me. I didn't know what was going on. He goes, 'You all right?' I said, 'What happened?' I guess they said two women threw a beer at me."

At any rate, real baseball fans know that beer is for drinking, not throwing, and the sooner the majority of respectable Jays fans impart this knowledge to their bozo brothers (and, uh, sisters), the better off all of us will be.

And if you're hestitant to act and want to purse the live-and-let-puke theory? Well, then ask yourself this: Would Walter Wayne The Beer Guy (below) want them acting this way?

Idiots. If I'm going to spend $8 on a Miller Lite at the ballpark, every drop is going into my body, even if I did have a clear shot at some d-bag from the other team.

I used to think Canadians were cool, but I guess Quebec and Montreal now run the show and have them going back to their dirty disgusting french ways.

I find it hard to believe that the Jays fans are the only spectators in sport that are throwing stuff on to the field or at players. If you are in Toronto and you want to see fans abuse players go to a Toronto FC/TFC (Toronto Football Club) game. If the away team has a corner kick it is encourage to throw red and white streamers at them, the refs don't seem to mind.
In defense of the Jays fans they are drinking strong beer and have watched their team consistantly finish third or fourth for the last 15 years, I'm suprised Pirate fan's aren't throwing entire kegs onto the field.

Why Upton? The only player worthy of such vile dislike is Madonna's vibrator (aka Alex Rodriguez).

Please don't generalize that Toronto represents all Canadians. Many of us dislike Toronto and anything associated with it (including the Jays, Leafs and Bills). Toronto is an embarrassment with it's whole New York-wannabe thing. Sad, pathetic, little beer-throwing people.
For the rest of us...Happy Canada Day tomorrow.

I met a few Toronto fans at a Jays-Pirates inter-league game in Pittsburgh. They're just cocky little pricks. I guess they don't realize they are from Canada.

good point number 13, course detroit lions fans would be tossin beer trucks on the field. cubs fans would have no choice but to dump coors (not the beer, a case, keg, or truck, but the whole company) on the field.

How about when the ninth inning of Game 7 of the ALCS had to be delayed because someone passed out and was lying on the first-base warning track - as for the Jays attendance, it's dropping to Expos like levels - they will be the next team to move...

Classy Toronto fans. For a city that claims to be the centre of the universe in Canada and wants to host more NFL games - what a dud. Pathetic, keep going TO fans, show the world how mature you all are. Morons. Don't even get me started on the Maplelaughs.
