Big League Stew - MLB

Look, I love Bronson Arroyo's windup as much as every other guy who has ever pulled something while trying to imitate it after a beer in the backyard or four.

But the Associated Press seems to take its obsession with Arroyo's unique delivery — really, he could play air guitar on that thing! — to unparalleled heights. After a year of doing this gig, I've come to learn that we're guaranteed a shot of Arroyo's splenderiffic symmetry every fifth day. To back up my point, I've compiled a mega mural of the past three seasons of Arroyo photos — repeating an image only once — and posted it below.

(Yes, I had some time on my hands this afternoon ... First day without midday baseball this year.)

Do you think his leg is always pointing in the direction the wind is blowing like some sort of giant Reds-themed weather vane?

One! Singular sensation, every little step he takes!
I think he could be in the Red Army with that leg kick.

'Duk, I say this with love: you're kinda sad.
That being said, I've wondered if Bronson were able to lodge the ball in his shoe during delivery and use his leg at times as the 'pitching arm' -- if you follow -- and whether that would break a specific baseball rule. Is there something that says.
Or if that proves to difficult, if he could position his pitching arm behind is leg so that it is completely obscured and they swing through the delivery together.
Clearly, I'm no sensation of awesome either.

Shades of Juan Marichal but with a different sized leg. He's really been great at times since leaving the Sox shortly after '04 and has quietly become a premier starting pitcher in the NL. He's still only 32 so he has plenty of time left to further establish himself.

Every time I see his name I think of the great actor Bronson Pinchot aka Balki, who invented the Meposian Leg Kick.
