Big League Stew - MLB

In case you missed it, George C. Scott Bill Buckner was the mysterious first pitch tosser for today's opener at Fenway Park. The infamous cog of Game 6 in 1986, Buckner hadn't been onsite in Boston since 1997. Red Sox fans responded to his return with an extended ovation. Apparently all is forgiven in Beantown.

So, good news, Steve Bartman! Only two Cubs World Series to go until you can show at Wrigley again!

(Or if some have their way, none.)

I found it odd having Buckner throw out the first pitch on opening day.

Believe me, the only reason the Sox fans applauded Buckner as they did today is because of the two World Series Championships they've won in the last four years. Otherwise, no way in #^%^$#@ he's throwing out that first pitch.

Hey Yankee fans, you're just wishing you remember what it is like to raise a Championship banner. So have a little class and come to the realization that you're second fiddle not only to our Great Nation, but also in Championships in this decade. As far as Bill Buckner returning to Fenway for the first time in 20 plus years, I can only think of this as a very classy move by the owner J.H.. Any smart baseball fan KNOWS, it wasn't his fault at all. They should have the same disdane for Calvin Shiraldi and Bob Stanley. Never mind the idiotic decisions by MacNamara. It was a complete collapse that I hope is put to rest by yesterday's events. May God bless you Bill Buckner, and Great, Great, move by the Sox upper brass. Let's get ready to defend our title! Here we go Boston, Here we go! Hear that Bruins and Celts!!!!!!

We're having Buckner throw out the first pitch at Citi Field in 2011 to commerorate the 25th anniversary of the Mets 1986 World Championship. He was big part of our winning effort that year.
