    Wilson Ramos has a torn ACL — he’s out for the year

    This is a big, big blow to the Washington Nationals: catcher Wilson Ramos is out for the year with a torn ACL in his right knee. The injury happened in the top of the sixth inning of yesterday’s loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks when Ramos leaped to grab an errant throw and came down awkwardly. Ramos clutched and pointed at his right knee. He was unable to put any weight on it as he was helped off the field and struggled to get down the dugout steps. Today he had an MRI and Dusty Baker just delivered the news about Ramos’ ACL.     Jose Fernandez's best friend gives us another incredible on-field tribute

    Aledmys Diaz returned to the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday, his heart still full of grief, but with one swing in the fourth inning, he gave us another incredible tribute to Jose Fernandez. On Sunday, Diaz got the horrible news: Fernandez — who lived a few doors down when they were kids in their native Cuba, a friend so close he called him brother — had died in a boating accident. Outside of Fernandez’s teammates with the Miami Marlins, the news didn’t hit anyone in baseball harder than Diaz.

    Giants acquire Gordon Beckham from the Braves

    Update (8:58 PM EDT): The Giants sent minor league infielder Richard Rodriguez to the Braves as part of the trade as well, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports. The Giants have acquired infielder Gordon Beckham from the Braves in exchange for cash considerations, David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Eduardo Nunez injured his hamstring on Sunday, leaving the Giants with another hole to fill at third base.
