On the Hoof: Very tall, lean athlete that looks more like a small forward than a defensive end at this time. Gholston has very long arms and legs that seem to go on forever. His frame can easily hold another 40 pounds.
Needs Improvement: Learn to play with hand on the ground and add much-needed size and strength to help fill out his frame. He is also very raw and needs to be more aggressive at the point of attack and work on learning the different techniques of whipping an offensive tackle.
Most Impressive: He is a tremendous all-around athlete that has the speed and quick-twitch muscle to chase down running backs and quarterbacks from the backside. Once he fills out, he will be able to use his long arms and athleticism to control offensive linemen.
Conclusion: Most likely a redshirt candidate because the defensive position is still new to him, and he has not even come close to physically maturing. Once he has a year under his belt on a college campus he could become a beast similar to Bubba Smith.
