On the Hoof: Has the build of a college shooting guard. His lower body is like that of a premier safety at the next level. He is built like a more muscular Russell Shepard of LSU.
Needs Improvement: Has to square up his shoulders while throwing on the run. He needs to work on getting his elbow up around shoulder-level, reducing the chance of the ball sailing high. Needs to get the ball out of his hand quicker, even though he has a short throwing motion.
Most Impressive: He is very athletic and will be able to buy lots of time in the pocket and make yards with his feet. Thompson is very accurate on short and mid-range passes. The ball comes out of his hand with excellent spin, making the ball very catchable.
Conclusion: Has a legitimate chance at being an elusive dual-threat quarterback. If that does not pan out, he is athletic enough and big enough to play either safety or receiver. Either way, he should have success at the next level.
