Scouting Report on Mike Mercer

by Jerry Meyer - 08/24/2004
Mercer is a very athletic and long point guard who can defend either guard position and rebound with the big boys. Very good with the ball, he can create a shot whenever he wishes and find the open man. He is prone to get lackadaisical with the ball at times. A lock down defender on either guard position, he has the size and skill to be an NBA point guard one day.

Jerry Meyer serves as a national scout and recruiting analyst for He played at Lipscomb University where be became college basketball's all-time career assist leader. Meyer earned Mr. Basketball honors in the state of Tennessee as a high school junior and senior. He has served as an assistant coach at Vanderbilt and also co-authored the book, "Basketball Skills and Drills."
