Scouting Report on Michael Washington

Washington has the athleticism and length that coaches drool over. He is raw, however, and is still learning the game. In the process of bulking up and refining his skill level, Washington has the shooting touch, size and athleticism that make him a very intriguing prospect.

Jerry Meyer serves as a national scout and recruiting analyst for He played at Lipscomb University where be became college basketball's all-time career assist leader. Meyer earned Mr. Basketball honors in the state of Tennessee as a high school junior and senior. He has served as an assistant coach at Vanderbilt and also co-authored the book, "Basketball Skills and Drills."

Diploma mills not a factor in LSU recruiting07/05/2006

Last month the NCAA listed 15 schools which have lost their certification for graduates as regards college athletics eligibility. It is expected that the NCAA will add more schools to that group by the end of July. The Southeastern Conference has led the charge against these so-called diploma mills. At the SEC spring meetings, Vanderbilt Chancellor Gordon Gee spoke on behalf of the conference against these problem schools.
