Welcome to immortality, Rick Pitino.
One of the best college basketball coaches ever has been selected for inclusion into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, according to reports from ESPN. They couldn’t have chosen a more deserving individual.
With his vigorous work ethic and strong interpersonal relationships, Pitino brings out the best in the people with whom he works. The coach has a purpose for everything he says, whether in jest or seriously, to a friend, to a stranger, a media representative or a fan. Pitino has a way of making the person he is addressing feel like he believes he or she the most important person in his life at the moment.

There are no plans in the works to replace the fading chair back seats at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium any time soon, according to K. C. Scull, who manages the stadium. This is not good news for fans perturbed by the pinkish glow in the stadium.
“My boss [Tom Jurich] has never once mentioned replacing all the seats with new ones,” he said recently. “Not once.”

The Cards handled the North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University Aggies & the Colorado State Rams in Lexington's Rupp Russ Arena. Your favorite video maker has provided a mash-up of the opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament for the Cards. There was little drama, but it was a lot of fun.

During Louisville football's first open practice of the spring, head coach Charlie Strong was working with the defensive linemen. D-line coach and recruiting coordinator Clint Hurtt was not at practice.
After practice, the Associated Press' Josh Abner asked Strong about Hurtt.
"Well, right now we have given coach Hurtt time enough where he can just go concentrate on his case," Strong said. "We have given him that time, and it is good that he is doing that. With as many distractions, he just can't do the job that we are asking him to do right now."
Hurtt is working with a lawyer to develop his defense against NCAA charges stemming from the Nevin Shapiro booster scandal at Miami.
"It is just an administrative leave concept right now, and like I said it is just about that case and working on that case right now," Strong said.

The bitter rivalry between the University of Louisville and Kentucky has been elevated several notches because of UofL's remarkable success and UK's collapse this basketball season. Karma depends on where one's loyalty lies.
UofL fans couldn't be happier about the turn of events. UK fans couldn't be more angry or deflated. In the minds of the intensely-loyal fan bases, the success or failure of the other program is almost equally important as their own. Sad but true, bringing out the worst in individuals, even between those who consider themselves friends of people who follow the other program.

2012: Louisville Cornerbacks came back in 2012 entirely intact and the Cards jumped from 68th to 17th in Passing Defense. Some of that production was due to schedule and conditions (Southern Miss was played in a lake, Temple really didn’t threaten to throw). But cornerback play was definitely elevated from a year earlier when the Cards relied on a transfer and 3 freshman almost entirely. Still Louisville managed just 11 interceptions, 3 of which came against Cincinnati. I don’t think the Cardinal secondary saw many top level QBs in 2012 but when they did see a good QB, like Ryan Nassib of Syracuse and Bryn Renner of North Carolina the Cards were susceptible. Nassib led Syracuse to Louisville’s first loss of the year throwing for 246 yards and 3 Touchdowns, while Renner threw for 363 yards and 5 Touchdowns in a failed last minute effort.
Overall I’d have to say that the Cardinal Corners played well. But I think there is a lot of room for improvement. Especially against top-level QBs.

No. 4 Louisville clobbered Villanova 74-55 Thursday night in the Big East quarterfinals, but the most exciting moment of the night came after the game when former president Bill Clinton stopped by the locker room.
A big basketball fan (remember Arkansas in the 1990s?), Clinton told ESPN: "If you love college basketball this is the place to be."
Clinton, who also stopped by Louisville's locker room last season when the Cardinals won the Big East Tournament title, has an office in Harlem and frequently attends Big East Tournament games.
He said he'll likely place his bets for his alma mater, Georgetown, and he lamented that this is the final Big East Tournament before the conference breaks up.
He apparently took a dozen or two pictures with the players before departing. Photos from UofL players' Instagram and Facebook accounts.
