Head coach Gary Henderson was named SEC Coach of the Year and freshman outfielder Austin Cousino was named SEC Freshman of the Year, the league announced Tuesday.

Cousino led the team with a .318 batting average and 13 steals. He hit nine home runs with 38 RBI.

Henderson guided UK in one of its best regular seasons ever, as the Cats finished a game out of first place in the SEC, and the best finish in the SEC Tournament in the modern era (1998-present). He also took them back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2008.

Cousino, catcher Luke Maile (hit .313 with 13 doubles, 12 homers and 49 RBI) and pitcher Corey Littrell (8-2 record and a 2.66 ERA in 15 starts, with 80 strikeouts in 91.1 innings) were named All-SEC Second Team.

Cousino and 1B/DH A.J. Reed (batted .314 with nine doubles, four homers and 42 RBI at the plate and charted a 5-2 record and a 2.62 ERA on the mound) were named to the Freshman Team.
