Khalid and Pancho Thomas, two former Kentucky football players who were dismissed from the team over the summer for violating team rules, will make their return to Commonwealth Stadium this year.
As members of the Alabama State football team.
The brothers enrolled at Alabama State and will be eligible to play this season -- including Nov. 2, when Kentucky plays a home game against the Hornets.
Khalid and Pancho were dismissed days after being cited for possession of drugs, according to the Herald-Leader. UK neither confirmed nor denied their dismissal was related to the charges.
“It means a lot to have another opportunity to play football,” Khalid told the Montgomery Advertiser, calling his dismissal from Kentucky “a situation where you were in the right place but at the wrong time. Coach Stoops is a pretty good coach. I’m just sorry it didn’t work out.”
