Kentucky's Class of 2014 is back to No. 2 in the Rivals rankings after JUCO commit Ryan Flannigan was given his ranking.
UK is only 12 points behind Texas for the No. 1 spot. A commitment would vault the Cats into first if other teams held constant.
But I'm just as interested in where this class will end up as much as I am where it is right now.
UK has 17 commits so far for 1,676 points in the Rivals system, for an average of 98.59 points per commit.
A final class only counts the top 20 ranked signed players. So using that average, UK's class projects to finish with 1971 points -- which would have been good for No. 16 last year.
If more top-level guys commit, UK could finish in the 10-15 range, as guys on the lower tier currently committed would no longer factor into the rankings. If the Cats finish the class with about the same level of commitments as they've pulled in, it will likely be more in the 15-20 range.
Still, it projects, with almost certainty, to be a record high (beating last year's final ranking of No. 29 by a pretty significant margin).
