Reports: Kansas State's Alex Delton to start at QB vs. No. 6 TCU
Kansas State quarterback Jesse Ertz will miss Saturday’s game vs. No. 6 TCU, opening up the opportunity for Alex Delton to start.
Delton played in the second half and overtime of Kansas State’s Week 6 loss to Texas. The news of his start was first reported by Rivals’ K-State Online. According to the Kansas City Star, Ertz is dealing with a knee injury.
Delton threw his first five passes of the season against Texas. He was 2-5 for 30 yards. He also had 12 carries for 79 yards and two touchdowns. As you can tell based on his stat line, Kansas State’s offense became much more run-based — and even had some single-wing tendencies — with Delton in the game.
Ertz, Kansas State’s leading rusher with 336 yards, is 55-100 for 930 yards passing with seven touchdowns and three interceptions and had thrown 18 passes before being forced to leave the Texas game. Kansas State is now 4-2 after road losses to Vanderbilt and the Longhorns.
