The Plymouth Whalers were full of high spirits, the natural kind, after beating the Saginaw Spirit 7-2 on Monday and improving their playoff probability. Following the game, there was a 'skate with the Whalers' event, which meant some of the players, still wearing their pads, gathered for a dance-off at centre ice.

It's horribly awesome, or awesomely horrible.

Rookies Mathieu Henderson and Francesco Villardi skated an elegant duet evocative of Will Ferrell and Jon Heder in the movie Blades Of Glory. The best moves, starting at 1:40, belong to Dunda, a 16-year-old rookie forward.

Dunda hasn't scored yet through his first 39 games in the Ontario Hockey League, so may we please take that as a sneak preview for how he'll celebrate his maiden marker?

The exuberance is kind of infectious. The Whalers have a dozen players who are in their first or second year of OHL eligibility. Yet they have managed to hold on to a playoff position. The win over Saginaw moved the Whalers six points clear of ninth-place Sarnia and also snapped the Spirit's six-game win streak.
