‘Jeopardy!’ Contestant Amy Schneider Just Hit Another Milestone
We are in love with Jeopardy!'s latest champion, Amy Schneider, and while she became the first woman and first transgender contestant to ever win over $1 million dollars during the regular season, she only continues to smash records.
Last night, Schneider fought for another major milestone. With 38 games under her belt, she was tied with Matt Amodio for the second-most consecutive wins on the game show (behind the current title holder, Ken Jennings).
Since Schneider was victorious, she passed the record set by Amodio only last year. However, she still has a long way to go before she catches up to Jennings's record of 74 consecutive games won. (But she's certainly off to a good start).
The contestant recently sat down with Good Morning America to discuss her Jeopardy! run, saying, “I never expected to do this well.” However, she expressed her excitement at being on the show, saying the best part has been “being on TV as [her] true self.”
Schneider said she is proud to be “representing the entire community of trans people,” as well as being “a smart, confident woman and just doing something super normal like being on Jeopardy!.”
During the interview, it was revealed that Schneider was voted “Most Likely to Be on Jeopardy! ” and we can totally understand why. Schneider has previously talked about how surreal the whole experience has been, saying, “This has been something I have wanted since I can remember...Being in the history of the game I think is something. You know, the money doesn’t feel real yet but that is something that I will never not be proud of.”
