Having played 14 times already this season on the PGA Tour, Stricker has decided he needs at least a two-week break following his tie for 23rd in the U.S. Open and he will skip the AT&T National this week. He played in the event at Congressional the last two years, finishing second to K.J. Choi, three strokes back, in 2007 and tying for 18th last year, when he put himself in position by shooting 64-66 in the middle rounds before closing with a 73. He has not yet committed to either the John Deere Classic or the Barclays Scottish Open next week, so there is a chance Stricker might not play again until the Open Championship in two weeks at Turnberry. Even some of the other players who competed in charity events the following day after the Monday finish of the national championship admitted that they were running on fumes. Stricker has been as consistent as just about anybody on the PGA Tour this season, making the cut 12 times in 14 tournaments and finishing in the top 30 every time he has made it to the weekend, highlighted by his victory in the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial....
