Tiger Paired with Mickelson for Pebble Beach Final Round: A Fan’s Take
Tiger shot a five under 67 on Saturday, which included six birdies and one bogey. Five of those birdies came on the front nine, where Tiger looked as if he couldn't miss a putt. The back nine however was a completely different story, as Tiger had eight pars and one birdie, just missing the edges on many of his putts. I still think Tiger is in a great position to win the golf tournament, as the previous two weeks have shown that no lead is safe on the PGA Tour.
As stated, Woods will be paired with Phil Mickelson on Sunday, who shot a two under 70 for his third round. While Phil was able to make a lot of putts for his second round 65, he couldn't really get anything going the next day, only making three birdies along with one bogey. Similar to Tiger, putting has been the only real problem for Mickelson this week, as the rest of his game looks quite solid. It should be a great pairing to watch on Sunday, and I think one of the two will win the event.
Charlie Wi shot a third round 69 to put him well ahead of the rest by four shots, although I don't believe he will win the event on Sunday. Why? After shooting a first round 61, Wi has been relying on his putter heavily in order to stay in the lead to this point. He hasn't won a tournament on the PGA Tour yet either, and I think the pressure will get to him on the short putts on Sunday.
