Golf-Tension shows between Allenby and Kim in Matchplay semi

CASARES, Spain, Oct 31 (Reuters) - American Anthony Kim renewed hostilities with Robert Allenby at the World Matchplay Championship semi-finals on Saturday, with the Australian irritated his opponent did not concede any putts.

“I was definitely surprised at not being given a few putts out there,” Allenby told reporters after the opening 18 holes finished all square between them.

“I gave him a couple of four-footers. Maybe I’ll do the same to him this afternoon.”

In matchplay, opponents normally give putts inside three feet but Kim made Allenby putt out all morning.

Kim said: “I don’t think I made him putt any short putts, maybe a two and a half footer. But it had a lot of break. It’s matchplay.”

The duo met in the Presidents Cup singles earlier this month when Allenby criticised the American for staying out late on the eve of their singles duel.

Although media reports suggested the pair had talks to resolve their disagreements, they hardly spoke to each other during the round on Saturday.
