SYDNEY, Nov 16 (Reuters) - U.S. Presidents Cup captain Fred Couples is to play in next month’s Australian Open, tournament organisers said on Monday.

The former world number one and 1992 U.S. Masters champion has not played the Australian Open since 1998 but said he would tee off in the Dec. 3-6 event at the New South Wales Golf Club in Sydney.

Couples will join fellow Americans John Daly, Steve Marino, Kevin Stadler and Bryce Molder in the field, while most of Australia’s top players including Geoff Ogilvy, Adam Scott, Aaron Baddeley and Stuart Appleby have also entered.
