Woods to be fined for criticism of rules official
CHASKA, Minn. (AP)—Tiger Woods will be fined by the PGA Tour for his public criticism of a rules official after winning the Bridgestone Invitational, a tour official said Monday.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the tour does not publicize fines.
Woods was bothered after his four-shot victory Sunday because he and Padraig Harrington were put on the clock at the par-5 16th. He said that caused Harrington to rush three difficult shots, leading to triple bogey.
European Tour chief referee John Paramor told Woods and Harrington they were being timed.
Woods said he told Harrington after it was over, “I’m sorry that John got in the way of a great battle.”
Paramor said the final pairing was well behind most of the back nine, but officials gave them time to catch up. They were still 17 minutes out of position on the 16th tee, when they were put on the clock.
Woods hooked his tee shot, punched out to 178 yards and hit an 8-iron that stopped a foot from the hole for birdie. From the right trees, Harrington hit a 5-iron to the edge of a bunker, went over the green, then hit a flop shot too hard and into the water. The four-shot swing took the drama from one of the most compelling final rounds of the year.
“I don’t think that Paddy would have hit the pitch shot that way if he was able to take his time, look at it, analyze it,” Woods said. “But he was on the clock, had to get up there quickly and hit it.”
Harrington conceded he was rushed, although he said it would be unfair to give the final group preferential treatment.
Section VI-D in the PGA Tour’s player handbook says, “It is an obligation of membership to refrain from comments to the news media that unreasonably attack or disparage tournaments, sponsors, fellow members, players, or PGA Tour.”

Woods said he told Harrington after it was over, “I’m sorry that John got in the way of a great battle.” that was said to Paddy
All Tiger said to the Press was
“I don’t think that Paddy would have hit the pitch shot that way if he was able to take his time, look at it, analyze it,” Woods said. “But he was on the clock, had to get up there quickly and hit it.”
SO my question is from the story i just read Tiger said this to Paddy and NOT to the Press so as usual the Press got as hold if it and Twisted around so that it would get Tiger in trouble. Tiger never said this to the PGA it was the MEDIA up to it's tricks to stir the POT and it got Tiger in trouble. That is why they should take that Freedom of the Press Crap and STICK it Right where it belongs up their A**. The Media are a Bunch of ASSCLOWNS who like to take a story and Twist it and twist it until it starts trouble and Hurts people
That ordinance in the PGA hand book should refer to the PRESS and not the Players
it should read like this:
Section VI-D in the PGA Tour’s player handbook says, “It is an obligation of membership to refrain from Listening to comments BY the news media that unreasonably attack or disparage tournaments, sponsors, fellow members, players, or PGA Tour.” And Twist around Comments to get the MEMBERSHIP in trouble

Tiger is always slow and he probably knows Harrington plays better when he plays fast, so it could be deliberate.
/When it was obvious Harrington could not win, we turned off the tv. We are not interested in Tiger.

Regarding this particular issue, I do believe that John did get in the way of a great battle. I do agree that rules are rules and they should apply to everyone. However, when that rule was written I do not think that the rule makers intended for it to apply in this situation, where you have the final paring on Sunday going at it head to head in a very close match. I believe it was meant for the first few rounds where you have a lot more players on the course and daylight is an issue.
In my opinion it was a bad call and the outcome of the tournament should not have been affected by such an insignificant issue. Also, it is pure BS that Tiger got fined for what he said.

Fine or No Fine - this was un-due pressure; then the threat of the fine was really STUPID management. The PGA should have said, "We'll look into and review this situation, specifically." Then bragged that they encourage INPUT and CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM." Where is their PR Guy.

To Tiger Woods - ThanX for sticking up for the other GUY. Your un-emotional observation was needed, it was appropriate and your delivery is a credit to you up-bringing. HuuAaah !!!
